Is your Android device full of APK files that you can’t even identify? They may have names along the lines of ‘asdf’ or ‘asdfasdffdsa,’ and while scrolling through archives of these nameless APKs just to find one certain app, regret starts to sink into your conscience. ApkRenamer ventures to rid of this dire inconvenience and save your sanity.
Independently developed by XDA Forum Member Svarion, ApkRenamer is an app that renames your APK file called ‘asdflasdrf1′ to the original name of the file. The app does this by searching through a user defined file directory and displaying the actual name of the APK files present by looking at their package names. Then, by simply selecting the APKs you wish to have restored and pressing the ‘Rename files’ button, your applications get their original names back. Svarion also included some nifty and convenient customization options as well, such as searching subfolders, different name separators, and whether to include the app name or version.
Presented with pleasant Holo aesthetics, ApkRenamer is sure to be a useful and practical app for many Android users. Its functionality is much needed and though it may not be revolutionary, it sure is nice to see another development homegrown in the XDA Forums. ApkRenamer is compatible with Android versions 4.0 and newer, and can be downloaded for free from the Play store.
